Fall Happenings

The East Central Libraries hope everyone is having a great fall semester!  This is just a quick post to share what the libraries are celebrating this fall.

Anderson celebrated All Hallows Read – a new ‘tradition’ founded by author Neil Gaiman in which participants give scary books (instead of/in addition to) treats at Halloween.  You can read more about All Hallows Read here, and check out the library’s bulletin board below, which we used to share some of our favorite/recommended Halloween stories!

In November, Marion is celebrating Native American Heritage month.  Check out their display!

Banned Books Week

September 24th – October 1st is Banned Books Week!

Catcher in the Rye . . .Of Mice and Men. . . Harry Potter . . .

What is YOUR favorite book?  Chances are good that someone, somewhere has tried to ban it.

Every year, there are hundreds of attempts to remove books from schools and libraries. The East Central Libraries encourage you to celebrate YOUR freedom to read!

Check out how the Anderson library celebrated Banned Books Week this year…

Origami birds folded out of pages from banned books!  (Don’t worry, no physical books were harmed in the creation of this bulletin board!)
